The 3 Benefits of Residential Treatment

A stay at a Residential Treatment Center could be just what your child needs to improve their mental health. Here are three benefits of Residential Treatment programs:
icon

Significant first step

Residential treatment is a significant step in your child’s mental health journey. A residential treatment program is an excellent option if your child needs a higher level of care than outpatient therapy. Residential Treatment programs can help them overcome mental health challenges and reach their full potential.
icon

Affordable

Residential treatment programs are frequently reimbursed by insurance making them more affordable while still giving a high level of intense care. We offer free insurance verification so you know what treatment options are available for you and your budget.

Effective

During residential treatment, your child participates in robust therapy sessions and has access to psychiatric services. They also receive an aftercare program that will help them build a solid foundation for a life of healing.

QUESTION ANSWERED

Frequently Asked Questions

Our reason for being and the reason our organization exists, is to create joy and heal generations. Browse our FAQ to learn more about Embark and how we can help your child.
What is a Residential Program?
When outpatient therapy is not enough, residential care provides safety and stabilization. Embark provides this care through short-term residential treatment and long-term residential treatment.

Short-term residential treatment is often the best option if outpatient services (intensive outpatient or partial hospitalization programs or in-home therapy) did not get to the root of your child’s issues or if your child is unsafe at home. Often, young people will come to us from a recent psychiatric hospitalization; short-term residential care is a great step-down option in that case.
What Types of Therapies Do Residential Treatment Programs Offer?
While living at a residential mental health facility, your child will participate in scheduled activities centered around treatment and healing.

Individual and group therapy sessions include a wide range of therapeutic techniques, including:

-Art therapy.
-Canine therapy.
-Equine-assisted therapy.
-Adventure therapy.
-Meditation and mindfulness.
-Addiction psychoeducational.
-Group therapy/daily goal groups.
-Individual therapy.
-Family therapy.
-Heart rate variability training.
-Quick coherence training.

Our programs use a range of results-driven therapies proven to help your child. Therapies at Embark Behavioral Health short-term mental health facilities include:

-Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT).
-Trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT).
-Experiential therapy.
-Self-management and recovery training (SMART).
Do Residential Mental Health Facilities Offer Substance Abuse Treatment?
Embark believes that substance abuse and substance addiction co-occur alongside many mental health issues. For preteens and teens struggling with drug and substance abuse issues, our short-term residential programs offer rehab services including:

-Self-management and recovery training (SMART).
-Substance abuse recovery groups.
-Substance abuse counseling.
-Substance abuse education.

These treatment options help your child understand how to navigate their way through difficult drug and alcohol issues while overcoming mental health issues.
Is Residential Treatment Offered Across the Country?
Embark Behavioral Health is proud to offer residential treatment across the country. We provide a unique therapeutic framework that allows us to heal and strengthen the functional, mental, and physical strength of your child alongside other adolescents who come from many different backgrounds and upbringings. Our peaceful therapeutic environment, evidence-based methods, and high standards of inpatient treatment provide the perfect environment for your child to work alongside other preteens and teens from all over the United States to overcome difficult mental health issues.
What Therapeutic Activities Are Offered During Residential Treatment?
In addition to traditional therapy methods, our residential treatment centers will allow your child to participate in therapeutic activities such as hiking, snowboarding, rock climbing, roller-skating, and yoga. These activities allow your child to learn how to apply the skills they’ve learned in real-world environments while also practicing healthy and appropriate ways to enjoy life.

All the therapeutic activities at our short-term residential programs fall within one of the five domains of functioning: social functioning, emotional functioning, intellectual functioning, physical functioning, and spiritual functioning. Experience participating in each of these domains can help your child learn how proactive activities can improve mental health.

Our therapeutic activities are offered in a group setting so your child can experience these healing activities with other adolescents who are struggling with mental health issues. We also love to hear suggestions from our students and take their interests into account when scheduling our monthly therapeutic group activities. Find an extensive list of the activities our short-term programs offer below!
Does Insurance Cover Residential Care?
Residential treatment is frequently reimbursed by insurance plans. To determine if your insurance plan will cover the cost of inpatient care, contact our team or fill out our insurance verification form. We’ll work with your insurance company for free to help you understand your benefits. Let us help you demystify insurance coverage for residential treatment.
